Here is a really rare clip of Mike doing it here in Europe first.
Back in the summer of 1984 at the Swedish Summercamp he learned the trick and fellow skatemate Chris Eggers got it on Super 8, so please excuse the bad quality.
Enjoy the show...

Pretty cool, thanks for sharing. It looks like it was more of a straight-ahead 540 spin, rather than the inverted ones that make a McTwist a McTwist.

Yea not a real McTwist yet but he was just learning them. More like Tonys McTwists he did them like that for years. If you look back at the old contest videos Mike would sketch out his landings on a lot of his McTwists but he was getting fully inverted, where Tony landed his perfect but did the trick half assed.
If you watch Mikes part in Public Domain some of this footage is in there, I dont know if its the same clip but it was video taken by Chris. There was some pretty cool footage from the camp taken, Mike doing inverts over the channel and maybe a couple of ollie to board slides over the channel. I like over the channel tricks.

Link to the guy (Hans Koraeus) here in sweden doing a documentery about the swedish summer camps. He have been working with this film for some time now, he had some screening of it some weeks ago, dont know when it will come out.
