There has been some discussion about a deck that I own and about it being a 7ply, no hips Welinder. I have talked to several different people about the possibility of this deck existing but I think what this deck is, is a very early dragon top deck with white bonite. Under the red paint you can see the white top and bottom layer. There is an auction on the Bay for the same type of deck with white specks showing through the paint. I looked closely at my deck and can see two layers of white paper in between the wood. Hard to see but still there.
So, is there such a thing as a 7 ply Welinder with no hips? I'm guessing not but would love to hear if they exist. Thanks!

I thought it was undercoat as well but after really looking at the side of the deck today, I can see 2 faint white lines in the same place where the black bonite is on my other red welinder. I hope Kam can come up with some additional info on this. |
